Bangkok diplomat likely got Hungarian trade minister’s hand-me-down COVID

One week after a visiting Hungarian minister infected with the coronavirus caused several high-profile figures to quarantine, Thai health officials this morning reported that a Hungarian diplomat is among four new COVID-19 cases.

The 53-year-old diplomat was said to have come into close contact with Peter Szijjarto, the foreign affairs and trade minister who tested positive one week ago. He was asymptomatic when he tested positive yesterday and is now being treated at the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in Nonthaburi province, where many coronavirus patients are sent. 

On a two-day visit to Bangkok last week, Minister Szijjarto was found to have an active COVID-19 infection. He canceled all events and is expected to return home this afternoon by private jet. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and four of his cabinet ministers were forced into quarantine…
