Back-to-back podium finishes for Somkiat

BUENOS AIRES: Moto2 rider Somkiat Chantra of Thailand came in second at the Argentina Grand Prix for his second consecutive podium finish on Sunday.

Somkiat, of Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, finished second behind Italy’s Celestino Vietti who won the race for his second victory this season having also triumphed in Qatar.

Somkiat’s teammate Ai Ogura of Japan completed the podium at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.

Somkiat became the first Thai rider to win any class of grand prix racing after his success in Indonesia last time out.

“It was a difficult race. Celestino did well and I could not overtake him,” he said. “I will try to continue my good run.”

The Thai vowed to win a couple of more races after his historic triumph in Indonesia.
