The fourth generation of Phuket’s prominent Hongyok family spent three years renovating this inherited 85-year-old Sino-Portuguese mansion and converted it into a photogenic mini-museum and boutique homestay. Ar-Jor in traditional Hokkien Chinese means great-grandparent. The host’s ancestors played an important role in Phuket’s tin mining business which was thriving during that time. The restored heritage building gives visitors a chance to experience what it was like living in the 19th century.
