B200m goes to mum defrauded by own daughter

Phra Khanong Civil Court yesterday ordered a woman, two bank employees and a commercial bank to pay more than 200 million baht in compensation to the woman’s bedridden elderly mother in connection with the theft of over 250 million baht from her accounts.

The court was ruling on a lawsuit filed by Huay Sriwirat against her daughter Mawadee Sriwirat, four bank employees and Kasikorn Bank for just over 350 million baht in compensation for the fraud.

On Dec 29 last year, Phra Khanong Criminal Court sentenced Ms Mawadee, 53, to 20 years in prison for document forgery and theft.

The court also sentenced bank employee Thipaporn Daengsawat to two years in jail for forgery and using forged documents.

The court acquitted three other defendants on all charges.
