Avocados?

Is there any sense in buying cheap local avocados by large bag? They don’t seem to ever ripen. Who/what do they sell them for?
Edit: thank you for your comments. I know that you can find ripe avocados in ChM. My question was about those in large bags like 15 pieces for like 200 baht. What are they for? Do they ripen at home or they are for cooking?
