I’m not sure if this is the best sub Reddit to post this, but I am doing so because I am living in Thailand.
Would anybody know what the requirement is to get an Australian pension in regards to residency ?
Apparently you have to be an Australian resident for a number of years I think it’s five as part of the application process.
But I don’t know, and Centrelink wasn’t of any help on what they determine ‘Australian resident ’ in relation to someone who spends a lot of time overseas.
Does residency mean that I need to be in Australia for the whole five years or does it mean that I’m allowed to be in Thailand for at least six months a year or what ?
So basically my question is what do they mean by Australian resident for the purpose of obtaining a pension?
I own a property in Australia, and I don’t own any property in Thailand. Im also an Australian citizen and born in Australia. So I’m I allowed to spend years in Thailand and then go back and get an Australian pension ?
