Armed man robs gold shop in Pattani, southern Thailand – VIDEO

An armed man has robbed a gold shop in a Big C supermarket in Pattani province, southern Thailand. Police say the thief stole a total of nine necklaces worth 15 baht weight in gold (a ‘baht’ in gold is about 15 grams).

According to CTV footage, the robber walked by the Yang Hub Teng gold and jewellery shop in the Big C superstore in tambon Rusa Milae numerous times before entering the shop and threatening the female saleswoman with what appeared to be a 9mm handgun. He then snatched gold necklaces from the glass display case and fled the building, escaping on a green Honda Wave motorbike toward Pattani’s city centre.

The gold shops at the entrances to these community shopping centres are frequent targets for snatch and grab robberies, occasionally fatal.
