Apple supplier Murata bucks downturn with new Thailand factory

CHIANG MAI, Thailand — Japanese electronic parts maker Murata Manufacturing has completed a new plant in Thailand and will start production in November, putting down roots for growth even as it weathers an earnings slump.

The Apple supplier is expected to spend tens of billions of yen (10 billion yen equals $67.4 million) to reach full production at the plant in northern Thailand’s Lamphun province by 2028.
