Any food specialists here that know anything about Thai food?

Been in Thailand for 6 weeks now. I made it a plan to lose some weight while I’m here for 6 months. Food portions here are rather small and only eat 1 dish of local food (either noodle soup with pork or chicken, or rice – same with chicken or pork) for lunch and then another local meal for dinner.

However it seems I’m just puffing up now. So now I’ve cut out lunch from local eateries and mainly eating a couple boiled eggs, some fruit, and sometimes get some beef jerky from a streetfood vendor near me.

Is there something with the food here that bloats? I know they probably add lots of msg so could that be the reason? If so, is there any sort of local food I should avoid to remove some belly fat? And certain food choices that are better options?

Thanks in advance for any insights.
