Anti-government protest in Khon Kaen

KHON KAEN: About 300 anti-government protesters marched for a short distance in Muang district town on Saturday before gathering inside a public park near where they stayed overnight.

The protesters included members of the Kong-Chi-Mun and Dao Din groups and students from various educational institutes. They were joined in the march by demonstrators from other northeastern provinces, most of them red-shirts of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD).

They started to march from the city pillar by the Democracy Monument at about 5.30pm and walked about one kilometre along Srichan road in the Khon Kaen municipality to the public park near the city gate on Mitrapap highway.

Crowd control police were lined up on both sides of the road to ensure the march was orderly and peaceful.
