Another recommendation question from a soon to be first timer.

Hi all, so I’ve been researching and I guess I’m confused about Phuket as a whole. 30’s couple will be in Phuket for 5 days. I thought everyone would be staying near the actual capital of Phuket which (please correct me if I’m wrong) seems near Big Buddha, elephant sanctuary’s, chillva market, monkey hill, closer to the pier to get to the Koh Phi Phi island, etc but it seems like most stay on the west side of Phuket in Kamala, Patong, Kata, Rawai. So my question is, is it easy to stay on the west side but still tour the above? Or should I split it up and stay 2 days in Phuket city and 3 days in Kamala? I’d like to do the above but also enjoy a night market and maybe a day trip or two to the Phi Phi islands (touring and scuba). Thank you for reading 🙏
