I am a quiet and shy person as well but I try to say hi and acknowledge people etc.
I have a thai fiancee that I’ve known for 4 years and I have had a series of interactions that come off as stone walling me or just playing the silent treatment. These interactions take place outside of thailand except her family which happened this week.
One is we meet her thai friend for fireworks on new years. I got ignores when I tried to say hi and I tried to make small talk and it was super awkward just was trying to be nice and at the end she just left without saying much of anything. Found it weird
Pretty much the same thing happened when two of her other friends. I usually just stay in the bedroom so they can visit but now my fiancee said I was rude even though they don’t seem to like me.
Now I just meet family members and some family members won’t say hi to me or even just talk to me and I’m just wondering if it’s a culturally thing or I’m just doing something wrong.
I don’t want to be disrespectful but it’s just awkward.
