I’ve been in Thailand for 5 months, mostly traveling on a budget, so I spend most of my time in hostels. About 3 weeks ago, I stayed in a nicer hotel in Ranong with luxurious bedding. After two days, my skin started itching, I developed hives, and small red bumps appeared in multiple areas of my body – typical signs of a contact allergy. Normally, my skin is not very sensitive; I only react to nickel. When I left the hotel, it cleared up after a few days. I then stayed in hostels or camped. Now, since yesterday, I’m in another upscale hotel with similar bedding, but 800 km away from Ranong. I’m experiencing the same skin reaction. Has anyone experienced this? I’m concerned that I might be reacting to an industrial detergent, possibly from a commercial laundry. I’ve attached a photo. It’s really annoying, and I’d like to know the cause to avoid it in the future.
