AIS and Huawei Complete Thailand’s First 5G RedCap Commercial Test in Bangkok

AIS, Thailand’s leading mobile operator, and Huawei have successfully conducted Thailand’s first 5G RedCap commercial test in Bangkok. The test was carried out on AIS’s 700MHz and 2600MHz commercial networks using diversified commercial RedCap terminals, including Data Transfer Units (DTUs) and cameras.

The purpose of the test was to verify the comprehensive capabilities of RedCap, such as downlink and uplink peak throughput, mobility performance, and the coexistence of RedCap and enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) User Equipment (UE). The test results showed that both AIS’s 5G network and RedCap terminals performed well, meeting expectations and marking an important milestone for RedCap commercialization.
