Airports of Thailand Increase Passenger Departure Charge Effective April 1, 2024 (Tourist Tax Still Pending)

Airports of Thailand (AOT) have just announced that they are going to increase the passenger departure charge for both domestic and international departures from April 1, 2024 onwards.

The charge used to be collected in cash upon departure until the early 2000s, from when on it was included in the airline tickets and collected by the carriers who would then pay the appropriate entities.

Over the past 20 years, the international fee gradually increased from 500 Baht to 600 Baht, then to 700 Baht, and now to 730 Baht. It was however doubled not too long ago for domestic flights from 50 Baht to 100 Baht and will now experience another 30% increase.
