Gaming environments, with virtual reality headsets, are becoming hyperreal, in Jean Baudrillard’s sense of the word, and I see their applications beyond the gaming industry.”

To date, Hajar has amassed over 306,000 followers and counting. She counts Palestinian-American academic Edward Said as one of her key influences, citing his seminal post-colonialism treatise that discusses romanticised Western perceptions of the East. “I create orientalist art by co-opting and sometimes subverting occidental imagery [using] AI tools,” she says.
