ah the good old days

The summer breeze of a quiet English Sunday morning with crispy frosted grass, birds tweeting and an early walking of the dog in some quiet park. Then off for a carvery lunch Sunday roast and a couple of beers. Maybe if the weather got better later (and my hangover went away) I’d head on down to my local for a few swift pints with the lads and a couple of sessions on the darts..maybe a bbq and more drinking.. Still… .. I remember when it was sacrilege to use a drill at 8am on a Sunday morning, let your barking dog out in the garden all morning or have a full on shouting match on your ‘scooter’ at 8am on a Sunday morning. Now roll forward 20 years. Waking up to next doors dogs and chicken, 25 degrees.. Everyone going somewhere, scooters coming and going… Its too ‘energetic’ I feel. I still savour Sunday mornings as a quiet bed time retreat or dog walk, in peace, with very few people around. Fond memories of back home but I also like it here most of the time. Is it just me, or does anyone else have any fond memories of an earlier time back in their home country that they miss every now and again?
