Age does have a big impact on golfers’ driving distances

Whether we like it or not, we hit shorter as we get older.

Here’s the average driving distance for male amateur golfers in each broken down handicap age category — 10-19: 234.2 yards; 20-29: 239.7 yards; 30-39: 233.7 yards; 40-49: 225.9 yards; 50-59: 215.4 yards; 60-69 204.5 yards; and 70+: 190.4 yards.

The yardages above are based on total roll-out numbers, not just carry.

Don’t worry if you can’t hit it very far as perhaps you have a good-looking swing.
