Advice on which area

Hello,

I’ve been coming to Thailand for 8 years. I’ve made 25 or more trips. Usually spend 2 or 3 months at a time. I’ve never been to
Chiang Mai. I’m headed there today and was wondering what is the best area? I know most people say the old city is best for first timers, but what about for me? It’s my first time to Chiang Mai, but I’ve been in Thailand a long time. I hear nimmaman is nice. My budget is $150-200 a night. Are there nice hotels in the old city? What is the best area to stay for good restaurants, nice cafes, good nightlife, live music, etc. I don’t want to be too far away and feel secluded. Thanks for any info
