Advice needed: filing police report for a substantial sum of stollen money

I would like to preface this by saying that this will sound naive to many people, but please be courteous when responding. I am seeking help and advice for someone whose only fault is being too kind so please don’t take a piss.

My friend has had over 100k baht stollen from her account by her (now ex) boyfriend.

At the begginning of their relationship she gave his family 40k for a medical emergency knowing that it would take time for the money to be returned. She lives with them and made the decision to help financially despite many concerns coming from her closest friends. She does not consider this as part of the 100k stolen, but I’m include it for context.

About two months ago she woke up to find 50k transferred from her online banking and confronted her partner about it. He admitted to transferring the money off her phone while she slept and gave the excuse that he had gotten himself in severe trouble with gambling debt.

Despite our concerns, she remained confident that the money would be returned. She changed her banking password and got his family involved in the discussion hoping they would help hold him accountable.

Yesterday she woke up with her phone and motorbike gone. She was told they were given as collateral for more debt owed. Once the phone was recovered and returned she learned that the remaining balance in her account had been transferred out.

We helped her pack her bags and leave.

We are encouraging her to get the police involved but she is scared that because it was stollen by her boyfriend and all the transactions were through her phone the police will not believe her and will deem it as money she had given willingly.

Does anyone have experience in a situation such as this? Would seeking legal advice be a reasonable option?

I’m honestly just at a loss and looking for any means of helping her. I would greatly appreciate any constructive input.
