The Thai Government has conveyed its interest in expeditiously establishing a free trade agreement with Bangladesh, with both nations underscoring the FTA’s potential for enhanced business opportunities in recent meetings.
A 50-member Bangladeshi delegation, facilitated by the Bangladesh Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI) in collaboration with Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Royal Thai Embassy in Bangladesh, concluded a bilateral visit to Thailand recently.
The countries are keen on collaboration in areas such as technical textiles, the blue economy, electric vehicle assembly, ecosystem management, data-driven modern agriculture, light engineering, halal industry, value-added food processing, and more.
Discussions also encompassed policy support for SME industries in Bangladesh and ESG compliance.
Notably, a significant business-to-business matchmaking event in Bangkok witnessed the participation of over 100 Thai businesses, resulting in the exchange of 145 contracts between the delegations.
