A Thai man fatally crashed his motorbike into a minivan full of foreign tourists on a Pattaya Road after reportedly dodging a road barrier.
The victim, 33-year-old Mr. Saroj Salao, was found lying on Thep Prasit Road at the entrance of Soi Thepprasit 11 in Pattaya at 05:45 AM today, April 28th. Sawang Boriboon rescuers who went to assist the man tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him as he had lost a lot of blood.
His black and red Yamaha Mio 125 GTX motorbike was discovered at the scene of the accident. It was completely destroyed, with parts scattered everywhere on the street, according to rescuers. The authorities also found a white Toyota minivan with a crumpled bumper at the site along with its driver, 41-year-old Mr. Kriengchai Chusrichan.
The Pattaya News interviewed Mr. Kriengchai, who was uninjured, and learned that he was driving with ten foreign passengers on board when he noticed ongoing roadwork up ahead.
The road was partially blocked with barriers from the construction, Kriengchai said. He then saw the victim driving at high speed towards the construction site. The victim dodged a street barrier and did not veer back into his lane, and crashed head-on into Kriengchai’s vehcle.
The tourists were startled by the impact, but fortunately, nobody was injured.
The victim’s body was transported to Banglamung Hospital for funeral arrangements. Pattaya Police are reviewing CCTV footage to find the exact cause of the accident. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=–=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
