Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video is working on partnerships with established and emerging filmmakers and content producers in the Philippines for originals and co-productions.
The international streamer has stepped up expansion plans in Southeast Asia this year, with the Philippines as one of the starting points and focus markets.
“We will have a lot more to share over the coming months in terms of the details, but I think what we’re most excited about in principle is we are at the start of our journey here in Southeast Asia and in the Philippines,” said Erika North, who heads the Asia-Pacific Originals at Amazon Studios and supervises the development of original content in this region, in a recent one-on-one with The STAR.
