Thailand bounced back from their opening Pool B loss with a 3-0 victory over Australia in the preliminary round of the AVC Cup for Women 2022 at Pasig City’s PhilSports Arena in the Philippines yesterday.
Thailand, who finished eighth in the FIVB Nations League 2022 in Turkey last month, were beaten by Japan 3-0 in their opener on Sunday.
Pimpichaya Kokram and Chatchu-on Moksri were the standout players in the opening set against Australia as Thailand cruised to an easy 25-9 victory.
Australia raised their game in the second set and and managed to take a 23-21 lead. But Thailand regrouped and fought back to tie at 24-24 before prevailing 27-25.
