84-year-old dad kills himself after daughter, 57, dies from COVID in bed 

An elderly father jumped to his death at a condominium in Bangkok soon after his daughter died of COVID-19. 

At around 5am on Friday, police found the body of Peng Ki, 84, at a three-story shophouse in Soi Phaya Nak in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district. Inside the building, police also found the body of Peng Ki’s daughter, Pranee, 57, on the bed.

Pranee was confirmed to have died of COVID-19, according to Capt. Rattaphon Suwanrat of Phayathai Police Station. She could not find a bed in the hospital. 

Peng Ki’s body was taken to the Ramathibodi Hospital to find out whether he was infected with COVID-19.

Relatives told police that Pranee was infected with COVID-19 but was unable to find a bed at a hospital. Thailand has been hit by the third-wave outbreak since April, and today reported another record high of daily COVID-19 infections – 6,087 – and deaths –…
