The country registered 16 more Covid-19 fatalities and 8,008 new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Monday morning.
This compared with the 12 coronavirus-related fatalities and 8,444 new cases reported on Sunday morning.
There were 7,842 local cases and 166 imported ones.
On Sunday, 8,215 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,440,542 Covid-19 cases, including 217,107 cases this year, with 2,334,050 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 22,173 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 475 so far this year.
