57-Year-Old Woman Killed in Collision with Minivan in Pattaya

Pattaya —

A Thai woman was tragically killed when her motorbike collided with a minivan at an intersection in Pattaya on Monday morning, September 18th.

The accident was reported to Pattaya Police at 6:30 AM, prompting officers, rescue workers, and The Pattaya News to rush to the scene near Wat Bun Kanjanaram, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

There, authorities found a red Honda Wave 110 motorbike driven by the deceased victim and a Toyota minivan. The former was significantly damaged, while the latter had damage on its bumper.

Lying dead in the median strip was the victim, Mrs. Sam-ang Khamthawee. The 57-year-old had succumbed to grievous injuries before the rescue team’s arrival.

The Pattaya News interviewed the driver of the minivan, 45-year-old Mr. Apinant Srisompot. He stated that he makes a living by transporting students. The man claimed that he was driving normally and as he was about to reach an intersection, the victim on her motorbike suddenly dashed in front of his car, resulting in a fatal collision.

The road was under construction. The impact threw the woman and her bike into the median strip. Following the crash, Mr. Apinant immediately called the police for help. He was not transporting students at that time.

Rescue workers transported the body to Banglamung Hospital for religious rites. Pattaya Police said they would review CCTV footage to conclude the exact cause of the incident.
