2024 Expat cost of living in Bangkok

I found a language school I want to attend that offers ED visas for 1-3 years in BKK. I found a pretty nice apartment on [RentHub.in.th](https://RentHub.in.th) that’s only 6000 Baht per month ($172 USD) that’s within walking distance, maybe 3 KM, to the language school.

When reading about tourist and expat budgets for Thailand, though, they’re all saying they’re spending $1500-2000 PER MONTH just to live there when I am finding apartments for less than $100 USD per month in the capital city! What’s the deal?

I’ve noticed that there’s AirBnB and all of these US-based companies advertising for properties there at super high prices, like $1000 USD a month or more. I’m assuming they’re scammers.

Does anyone have lists of real websites to use besides RentHub and REAL prices for cost of living there?
