ocals in Thailand have commended a caring teacher known as Suputtra Linthong for saving 19 puppies that had been abandoned in a flooded woodland and left to drown.
On August 8, Linthong received a call from a friend informing her that the animals had been abandoned close to the Ban Non Por Daeng School in Nong Bua Lamphu. She risked the torrential rain to save the animals.
The two waded through the muck and discovered the 19 helpless puppies shivering in the cold and soaking wet in a pool.
Two crates were used to transport the puppies to Suputtra’s residence, where they were housed while the friends searched for adoptive parents.
Supputra took the puppies to the Nong Bua Lamphu Pet Health Centre to be examined before deciding to part with them, where it was discovered that they were in good health.
She said: “I will deliver them to the owners free of charge in Nong Bua Lamphu province and surrounding areas, just like I used to find homes for dogs, to ensure that the puppies are well taken care of.”
Pictures of the cute litter quickly went viral online, and Supputra soon became inundated with requests from people who wanted to adopt the puppies.
As of August 9, all 19 puppies have been adopted, local media reported.
The yearly monsoon rainy season is about to begin in Thailand and neighbouring South-East Asian nations. During this time, temperatures climb, followed by intense afternoon downpours that cause widespread flash floods.
Supputra urged pet owners to find a shelter or adopter rather than irresponsibly discarding their animal pals, especially during these conditions.
She said: “All animals have souls, just like ours. If you don’t love them, don’t hurt or discard them.”
