The country registered 16,462 more Covid-19 cases – the most since August 2021 – and 27 new fatalities during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Wednesday morning.
This compared with the 27 coronavirus-related fatalities and 14,373 new cases reported on Tuesday morning.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said in the afternoon the 27 new fatalities were between the ages of 32 and 98, all Thai nationals.
Bangkok logged the most new deaths — eight — followed by two each in Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Chonburi.
