Following heavy rainfall in the catchment area of the reservoir, Tamil Nadu opened nine shutters of the Mullaperiyar dam on Tuesday morning. According to the district administration, five out of the nine shutters were raised by 60 centimetres and the remaining were opened by 30 centimetres, news agency PTI reported.

As per reports, the water level in the dam was 142 feet at 10.00 AM on Tuesday.
