A Burmese man and woman had been crushed to death when their motorbike was hit by a truck on Sri Racha’s Sukhaphiban 8 Road.
The road accident involving two Burmese workers named Mr. Maung Min Nay, 29, and Ms. Naeng Ong Son, 31, was reported to Nongkham Police at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, March 8th. Maung and Naeng were riding a motorbike on a two-lane road in the Bueng sub-district of Sri Racha district, when their vehicle was hit by a truck, according to CCTV footage.
Local rescue responders rushed to the accident scene after being contacted and found the Burmese workers in serious conditions. They both had been crushed on their heads by the truck and tragically passed away. The victims’ red Honda Wave motorbike was discovered nearby.
The truck responsible for the victims’ deaths was present at the accident site. According to the 28-year-old Thai driver, Mr. Peerasak Pollamueng, he saw the victims riding in front of him and honked his horn to signal that he was going to overtake them. As he was passing them, Peerasak claimed that a sudden gust of wind caused the victims’ motorcycle to veer under his truck, leading to the fatal accident.
“I was not driving at high speed, and I sincerely felt sorry for them,” Peerasak stated.
The victims’ bodies were transported to a nearby hospital to wait for their relatives and families. Police are looking into the truck driver’s claim.
