Threads Hits 100 Million Accounts in 5 Days, Rapid 50% Drop in Usage

Twitter’s direct competitor, Threads, is declining in daily active users and time spent on the app. Even though it was crowned app with record 100 million subscriptions in just 5 days.

Sensor Tower noted that Threads was downloaded more than 100 million times on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store within the first week of launch (July 7), however download numbers have dropped sharply since then.

The report also pointed out a significant drop in user engagement. On weekdays, usage time is reduced by about 20%, and on weekends, usage time is reduced by 50% from 20 minutes to 10 minutes.

A Meta spokesperson said: “Although it is early days, we are thrilled with the successful launch of Threads, which has exceeded our expectations.
