The Thaiger – Severe Flooding in Ang Thong: Homes and Hospital Affected by Worst Deluge in Decades

Ang Thong province is experiencing severe flooding due to rising waters from the Chao Phraya River. The flooding has breached barriers and inundated significant areas, including the Pa Mok Market and various municipalities.

Officials are working urgently to mitigate damage by reinforcing embankments with clay. Water levels in Pa Mok Market have risen by up to 50 centimeters, prompting residents to move their belongings to higher ground. To prevent accidents, the Electricity Authority has cut power in affected areas.

This flooding event is reported to be the worst in nearly four decades. While other regions were severely impacted during the 2011 floods, Ang Thong had remained relatively safe until now.

At Pa Mok Hospital, flood defenses are under pressure. Despite a front embankment that stands four meters high, water has breached from the rear via a nearby canal, affecting neighboring villages.
