Thai PM survives no-confidence vote amid more planned protests | Thailand News

The vote marks the second no-confidence test Prayuth’s government has faced since taking office in July 2019.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and nine ministers survived a no-confidence motion in parliament after a four-day censure debate with protests calling for his resignation set to resume.

“The vote shows that there is confidence,” said Chuan Leekpai, president of the National Assembly, on Saturday announcing the result, amid allegations the government mismanaged the economy, bungled the provision of COVID-19 vaccines, abused human rights and fostered corruption.

The vote marked the second no-confidence test Prayuth’s government has faced since taking office in July 2019, following a contested election after Prayuth seized power in a 2014 coup as the army chief.
