Taste Tokyo specialty roaster Onibus at its new Bangkok location

Good news, coffee drinkers. Renowned Japanese brand Onibus Coffee has opened its first Thai shop in front of Samran Rat’s hip Once Again Hostel. It’s serving steaming cuppas in the run-up to its grand opening Wednesday. 

Despite a diminutive space housing its speed and slow bars, standing tables, and few seats; Onibus Bangkok is functional and promises high quality joe imported from Japan, available in both light roast and dark roast beans. 

Japanese founder Atsushi Sakao, who trained as a barista in Australia, opened his multi-roaster coffee shop in 2012, which garnered loyal fans with its high quality beans. Sakao, who aims to use coffee culture to bring people together, named his coffee roaster Onibus, meaning “passenger bus” in Portuguese. The brand has four branches in Tokyo and one in Ho Chi Minh City.
