Tap ‘n tube onto Bangkok’s MRT with a credit card – coming soon

Too many people queuing for coins and cards means too many people waiting to take a train. Now some MRT whiz kids have figured out how to solve this problem. Finally.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority announced yesterday that commuters will be able to pay for fares by just tapping a credit card on turnstiles rather than wait in one of those snaking lines for a machine or attendant.

Visa and Mastercard cards from any bank which use a contact-free transaction system should work. 

Unfortunately, the MRT operator did not specify when the tap-and-go would actually launch. We’re looking at you, Mangmoom.
