Staying Outside Chiang Mai Old Town

Hey, we want some quiet time when we are visiting Chiang Mai at the end of December(6 nights total) i was looking on airbnb for entire houses in nature that have full privacy, all of them are located out of the old town and more into the green area, west and south of the city. My question is, is it easy to get around Chiang Mai if we rent a scooter? Are taxis readily available all around the city/outside the city to bring us around while necessary? Any help is appreciated🙏🙏
