Rt-pcr Test Hassle For People Returning From Southeast Asia | Chennai News

Chennai: Travelling to Singapore and Thailand, the most popular southeast Asian destinations for Chennaiites, has become a hassle because passengers returning after a holiday or business visit have to take an RT-PCR test before boarding.
The rule that passengers arriving from Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and China have to take the test has begun to adversely impact leisure travellers. There is no Covid in Singapore, but travellers have to spend at least 4,000-6,000 for a pre-departure RT-PCR test in listed labs. Travel and tour operators say many tourists and business travellers have started to cancel non-essential trips for fear of getting stuck in a foreign country if they test positive as they have to extend stay and spend more on hotel rooms and tests.
