A 43-year-old driver was involved in a serious road accident on Sukhumvit Road in front of the Dohome store in Pattaya, where his car struck a pedestrian who became trapped under the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on February 7th, 2026. Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian, with the victim pinned beneath the car and in critical condition. The crash took place on Sukhumvit Road, near the entrance to Sattahip, in front of the Dohome shopping center.

Rescue teams and relevant authorities rushed to the scene, where they found a white Toyota sedan with Bangkok license plates heavily damaged at the front, including a shattered windshield. The driver, Mr. Somphop Suwannaphan, 43, was standing by and cooperating with officials.

Under the vehicle was the injured pedestrian, identified as Mr. Tayira Ai-saeng, 50, who had suffered severe injuries including deformed and broken arms and legs, and was breathing weakly. Rescue workers coordinated with local residents to lift the car, using a forklift to raise the front end and free the victim. Emergency CPR was immediately performed before he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

When questioned, Mr. Somphop stated that he was driving his family to Jomtien Beach for a seaside trip. He had been traveling in the right lane at normal speed when the pedestrian suddenly ran out from the roadside. He was unable to brake in time, resulting in the violent collision. Upon realizing the victim was trapped under the car, he immediately called for help.

Pattaya Police investigators arrived at the scene to document evidence, photograph the area, and collect relevant materials. The driver was taken for further questioning. Authorities are also reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to determine the exact cause of the accident. Legal action will be taken if any wrongdoing is found, in accordance with the law.
