Neighbor Dispute Over Pet Cat Escalates to Gun Threat and Dueling Police Reports in Sri Racha

Sri Racha, November 5th, 2025– A long-simmering feud between two neighboring households in Sri Racha district erupted into a heated confrontation involving verbal abuse and a firearm threat, all sparked by disputes over cats allegedly defecating on each other’s property. Both parties have filed police reports at Sri Racha Police Station, with authorities set to summon those involved for further questioning.

The incident began on the morning of November 4th, when Ms. Supaporn “Ui”, 60, returned home from a market trip and spotted a neighbor’s cat jumping out of her house and eating grass in front. She shouted to shoo the animal away. This prompted Mr. Yongyot, 53, who lives directly across the street, to intervene, insisting the cat was only outside and not inside the house. The exchange quickly devolved into a fierce argument, with both sides trading insults, profanities, and threats of physical harm.

Mr. Yongyot told The Pattaya News that the disagreement started over his cat grazing on grass near Ms. Supaporn’s front yard. “The cat didn’t go inside the house; it was just eating grass outside,” he said. He admitted to yelling challenges and threats in the heat of the moment but denied any physical action. The pair have clashed multiple times over the years about pets entering each other’s properties, but Mr. Yongyot described this as the most intense episode yet.

Ms. Supaporn, however, claimed the cat had been inside her home and that Mr. Yongyot’s pets frequently urinate and defecate on her property. “I just told the cat to leave, and he started cursing me harshly, even insulting my parents,” she said. “He threatened to hurt me if I stepped outside. I’ve never spoken to a neighbor like this before.” Frustrated, she retorted with her own insults and later called her son to inform him of the ordeal.

Around 6:30 p.m. that evening, Ms. Supaporn’s son, Mr. Chaicharn, 41, a security guard returning from work in Laem Chabang, arrived home. Having heard about the morning altercation, he approached Mr. Yongyot’s house to demand a calm discussion. When the neighbor refused and allegedly continued verbal abuse, Mr. Chaicharn grew angry. He retrieved what he described as an air gun—not a real firearm—from inside the house and brandished it to intimidate the other party.

“He said if he didn’t do this, they would keep threatening to beat us,” Ms. Supaporn explained. Fearing escalation, she quickly pulled her son back inside to cool down, preventing any violence. Mr. Yongyot and his family, startled by the weapon, reported feeling terrified.

Neighbors familiar with both households noted that Ms. Supaporn lives quietly with her two children and avoids conflicts, while Mr. Yongyot runs a small trading business. The families had a prior falling-out years ago over unrelated personal matters, after which they mostly kept to themselves. However, recurring issues with Mr. Yongyot’s cats entering Ms. Supaporn’s yard have caused occasional minor spats.

CCTV footage captured the initial morning argument and the evening threat. Both sides have lodged formal complaints at Sri Racha Police Station. Mr. Yongyot intends to pursue charges, citing ongoing harassment, while Ms. Supaporn expressed fear for her safety, living primarily alone during the day as her son works early shifts.

Police have confirmed receipt of the reports and will investigate under relevant laws, including potential charges for threats and intimidation. No injuries were reported, and the situation remains under control.
