Pattaya – February 5th, 2026 – Residents in a rural area of Banglamung District were left shocked after a local man stumbled upon the badly decomposed body of an unidentified male while searching for birds in a tall grass field used for grazing cattle.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5th, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana Phosri Dee, Deputy Investigator at Huai Yai Police Station, received a report of an unidentified corpse discovered in a cow pasture along a rural highway connecting Ban Huai Khai Nao to Chak Phak Bung Village.

Upon notification, police investigators, along with on-duty doctors from Pattaya Padthomakun Hospital and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya, rushed to the scene.

The body was located about 200 meters from the village road, deep within a field of tall grass, over 2 meters high, surrounding the area. Initial examination revealed the deceased to be a man estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, of unknown nationality. He was lying face up, wearing a pink shirt and black three-quarter-length pants, with no shoes. A rose tattoo was visible on his right shoulder, and his right palm showed a severe burn-like wound, charred and blistered as if scorched by fire.

No identification documents were found on the body. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, with significant bloating and a strong foul odor, police estimated the man had been dead for approximately 24 to 48 hours.

Around the body, officers observed clear signs of thrashing or struggling: the tall grass had been flattened and trampled in a roughly 2-3 meter radius, suggesting the victim had suffered greatly before death.

The man who discovered the body, Mr. Prawit Soi Thong, 49, a local resident, explained that he had entered the field in the late afternoon to hunt for ta-kum birds (a type of local bird) to cook for food. While walking through the grass, he noticed a foul smell and traced it to the source, only to be horrified by the sight of the bloated corpse. He said he was deeply shocked, as he never expected to find a dead body in the area. From the build and appearance, he was certain the deceased was not a local villager.

Pol. Lt. Yutthana Phosri Dee stated that after on-site examination and preliminary autopsy with medical personnel, the exact cause of death could not yet be determined. The body’s advanced bloating and early decomposition made immediate conclusions difficult. The corpse has been sent for detailed forensic examination at the Institute of Forensic Science, Police General Hospital, where experts will attempt to identify the victim and establish the true cause of death.

Police are currently working to determine the man’s identity and investigate whether foul play was involved, given the signs of apparent suffering and the isolated location of the discovery. The case remains under active investigation.
