Pattaya News – Female Motorcycle Taxi Driver Sobbing After Deceptive Free Ride from Bangkok to Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand — A 38-year-old female motorcycle taxi driver broke down in tears after she was allegedly deceived into transporting a mysterious woman from Bangkok to Pattaya for free, only for the passenger to disappear without paying the agreed fare.

At approximately 2:19 a.m. on February 9th, 2026, Ms. Phennapha Sitthidet reported the incident to investigating officers at Pattaya City Police Station. She explained that she had been hired by an unknown woman to ride her motorcycle from Bangkok to Pattaya, under the pretense that the woman needed to reach Pattaya Police Station.

According to Ms. Phennapha, the incident began at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 4 in the Khlong Toei district of Bangkok. A Thai woman, estimated to be between 20 and 35 years old, wearing a white shirt, short white jeans, and carrying a shoulder bag, initially asked to be taken to Ekamai Bus Terminal to continue her journey to Pattaya.

When they arrived and discovered that all buses had already departed, the woman pleaded with Ms. Phennapha to continue the trip by motorcycle directly to Pattaya City Police Station. After negotiation, they agreed on a fare of 1,500 baht (originally quoted at 2,000 baht). Feeling sympathy for the woman’s situation, Ms. Phennapha accepted the job.

The two traveled approximately two hours from Bangkok to Pattaya. Upon arrival in front of the police station, the passenger claimed she needed to go inside to collect money from her father, who was supposedly there, in order to pay the fare. She then entered the station and never returned.

After waiting more than an hour with no sign of the woman, Ms. Phennapha grew suspicious and asked nearby motorcycle taxi drivers if they recognized her. They informed her that no such woman had been seen entering or exiting the station, and that similar scams targeting motorcycle taxis from Bangkok had occurred multiple times before. In these cases, passengers typically claim they have no money, cannot contact anyone, and then vanish, leaving the driver unpaid.

Realizing she had been deceived, Ms. Phennapha went straight to Pattaya City Police Station to file a formal complaint. Speaking to reporters with a trembling voice, she expressed her disappointment and hardship, saying she earns her living day by day and that every baht is hard-won.

She also sent a public message to the woman through the media: “If you are watching this news, please return the money to Sukhumvit Soi 4. Even if it’s only half the amount, it would still help. Please don’t do this to anyone else again.”

After completing her statement, Ms. Phennapha rode her motorcycle back to her residence in the Huai Kapi area of Chonburi Province, visibly upset and disheartened.

Police at Pattaya City Station have recorded the complaint as evidence and will forward the case to the investigation team to track down the suspect and proceed with legal action.
