A Historic Day for American Legion Post TH02 in Pattaya





Today we were honored to conduct an enlistment ceremony at American Legion Post TH02 for Billy Peavler and his family as he took his first step in his US Navy journey by taking the oath of enlistment for 6 years. We believe he’s the first person to enlist in the Navy from Thailand and he was administered the oath of enlistment by Randy Riggs, CW02, USN (ret).

In attendance were Jon Johnson the past American Legion District 14 Commander from the state of Illinois, Randy Riggs the current District 5 Commander for the VFW Department of the Pacific, American Legion Post TH02 Commander Bill Ahlberg and VFW Post 9876 Post Commander Manny Guarnuccio. In addition, his family Daranee “Nui” Peavler (Mom), Anuphon “Nook” Peavler (Wife), Jesse James Peavler (Son) and Sky Fajsai Peavler (daughter) showed their support by attending Billy’s momentous day. The event was also attended by Billy’s friends from the local area as well as members of veteran posts TH02, 9951, 9876 and 12146.

Billy expects to fly back to Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan at the end of the month and then arrive in Great Lakes, Illinois for 10 weeks of boot camp. Following that he will attend advanced electronics training as either an Electronics Technician (ET) or Fire Controlman (FC) for 2 years.
