Pathum extend lead at top after Buriram shock Port

Diogo Luis Santo proved his worth for leaders BG Pathum United with a strike shortly before the break that put the Thai League 1 leaders on course to a 2-1 victory over Trat on Tuesday night.

In the late game, former champions Buriram United hit two quick goals late to deal a massive blow to second-placed Port’s already-dimming hopes of challenging for this year’s league title, posting a 2-1 away win at PAT Stadium.

Klong Toey-based Port, put ahead by Sergio Suarez in the 48th minute, also failed to avenge last week’s FA Cup loss at the hands of the Thunder Castle for whom Apiwat Ngualamhin and Maicon Marques struck two minutes apart in the dying stages of the match.
