New cafe ‘Maison Bleue’ opens in Phrom Phong with Parisian vibes, next-level brioche

In need of some joie de vivre? Maison Bleue, located where Karmakamet Diner once stood, offers warm Parisian vibes with decadent desserts to match.

While the Karmakamet shop is still open, inside you’ll find this new spot reminiscent of a charming French cafe, imbued with shades of blue and walls lined with potted lavender. 

Founder Jakthong “Mumu ” Ubolsootvanich — who is also a partner in Chiang Mai dessert eatery W by Wanlamun — originally studied advertising before moving to Paris, becoming obsessed with the salon de the culture, and learning the finer intricacies of French cooking and baking. 

The brioche is the star here. Try it in the classic French toast, or pain perdu, (THB295), a brioche mousseline soaked in Tahitian vanilla custard and topped with almond crumble, almond tuile, homemade creme fraiche, and berries. The Black Forest French toast
