Movie theme park opens in Thailand

The world’s first theme park based on movies made by Columbia Pictures has opened in Thailand, after the pandemic forced a year-long delay.

The first visitors streamed into “Columbia Pictures Aquaverse” on Wednesday. The park is near the popular resort city of Pattaya, southeast of Bangkok.

Eight zones are based on hit movies of the studio, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, including “Ghostbusters” and “Jumanji.”

One highlight is the “Mega Wave Pool,” an outdoor cinema where movie viewers can stay cool.

People in the tourism industry hope Aquaverse will help rejuvenate the tourism industry while it recovers from the effects of the pandemic.
