MotoGP returns later this year

The kingdom will resume hosting Moto Grand Prix (MotoGP), starting at the end of this year in Buri Ram, after stopping for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the government.

Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Sunday said more than 83% of Thais have received one vaccine dose while 76% have received two. Meanwhile, 36% of the population has received three doses, he said.

The country is now ready to host international events like the MotoGP, he said.

The deputy prime minister said Thailand will host the 18th and 19th races of the world motorcyle championship from Sept 30 to Oct 2 in Buri Ram.

They were postponed twice during the past two years owing to the virus.
