Lee goes underground with Keith Haring

In the 1980s, Keith Haring’s widely recognised style defined the zeitgeist of the New York street scene.

His graffiti-like imagery of partying DJs, dogs and other stylised figures in rapid rhythmic lines were splashed on the Big Apple’s subway stations’ advertising and poster spaces.

His art literally emerged from the underground. With increasing recognition, Haring created larger scale commissioned works, which became his iconic and colourful murals. Between 1982 and 1989, he produced more than 50 public works in dozens of cities around the globe.
