Disney is mounting a major new campaign in the Asia-Pacific streaming wars, announcing 18 new local-language originals that will be produced in the next year for its SVODs in the region.

The new projects hail from Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, China and Australia, spanning series and films in genres including anime, comedy, fantasy, drama, science-fiction, documentaries, crime, horror and variety shows.

Animated titles include Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall, which reboots a popular Japanese character-driven IP that has already spawned music, action figures and TV series; Summer Time Rendering, based a top online manga title that has generated more than 130 million page views; Yojohan Time Machine Blues, a sequel to Japanese series The Tatami Galaxy; and Twisted Wonderland, an anime adaptation of Disney’s popular mobile game by Aniplex.
